Nordic Council and Nordic Council of Ministers is a Nordic cooperative whose purpose is "is to achieve more together than the individual countries are capable of on their own". Nordic Council and Nordic Council of Ministers website 
Concerning international taxation issues, its official standpoint is that "The Nordic Council sees binding international agreements as the best way to prevent damaging international tax competition". Nordic ministers of finance decided in NC meeting (June 20th 2006, Asker, Norway) to establish common Nordic treaties on exchange of information with some 30 tax haven jurisdictions (see http://www.norden.org/webb/news/news.asp?id=6229&lang=3) More information about taxation issues can be found in NC publication Financing the Nordic Welfare States: The Challenge of Globalization to Taxation in the Nordic countries Nordic Tax Justice Network encourages Nordic governments to channel this co-operation into initiatives in all international arenas. |
